Club's History |
Ermis, the Volleyball Club of Drama, was founded in 1998 by supporters of sports and volleyball in particular, aiming at introducing young girls to volleyball, creating competitive groups in all age categories and finally, developing the volleyball activity in Drama.
Since the beginning of its foundation, Ermis has focused on the development and proper function of the Academy, as a prerequisite for the development of volleyball in Drama.
Within a few years, the initial selections of the founders of the club proved fruitful in the most unexpected way.
Nowadays, Ermis consists of the most competent Junior, Young and Senior Girls Teams, winning every year the regional championship of East-Macedonia and Thrace and distinguishing at a national level. In 2006, the Senior Girls Team came second best in the national FINAL FOUR conducted in Drama with great success. In 2003, the Young Girls Team came third, in 2005 second and in 2006 it got to the top, winning the Young Girls National Championship.
Since 2005, the Women's Team, consisting of girls who did the first steps in the Academy, is playing with great success at the Second National Category. Thus, because of the advantageous position of the club, our athlete girls are credited with an extra 10% for their admission at the university. Our aim is to give our athlete girls the opportunity to be given every year the extra credits provided by law.
Our athlete, Charoula Savvidou, aged 15 ½, was invited in April 2006, to join the Women's National Team, whereas three of Ermis athletes are playing in Young Girls National Team and three more in Senior Girls National Team.
Moreover, a great number of Ermis girls have been chosen to follow their training at the national courts of our region. The training takes place in the gym of the second high school for the Academy, the closed gym of the municipality of Drama for Junior and Young Girls, and the Kraxtidis Sports Centre for Senior Girls and Women. |
